Time for one last Marzen before moving on to other things. Let’s see if this one would keep my streak of good beers alive!
Beer Name: Opaaafest
Brewery: Opa Opa Brewing Company (Easthampton, MA)
Description: I couldn’t find much in the way of official information about this brew, but (surprise!) it’s the brewery’s fall seasonal.
Appearance: It poured to a see through, light copper body with a thin lacing of white foam.
Smell: A light, subtle blend of sweet and toasted malts.
Taste: Sweet light malts upfront transitioned toward lager yeast and toasted malt on end. The finish was slightly peppery with yeast and a faint hop presence.
Mouthfeel: Roughly medium bodied with slightly above moderate levels of carbonation.
Hype: None. It was in the right place at the right time when we were looking for the style.
Overall: All in all this was another solid Marzen. It was a little lighter on the malts and heavier on the yeast than my previous brews but it still rather enjoyable.
